What is the difference between Hemlock and Cedar? The wood of the sauna does not add or remove from the saunas efficiency. The choice of the wood is merely for cosmetic reasons. It all depends on what you would like to see every time you see your sauna. If you have any alergic reactions to certain woods, you would want to choose a hemlock wood sauna. Cedar wood does have a natural pleasent smell which may affect a small number of people in the world. Most steam saunas are made from cedar wood for the reason that bacteria will not grow on the cedar, making it a great choice for a sauna.
